ABOUT THE IALOC

The Italian American Lawyers of Orange County (Lex Romana) takes pride in being the premier OCBA Affiliate that places equal emphasis on the importance of legal, cultural, epicurean, and fermented contributions Italians have made to our society and legal community. Our mission is to celebrate Italian culture, provide continuing legal education opportunities to members of the Orange County legal community, and to create fun and festive opportunities for networking among lawyers, non-lawyers and anyone interested in good food, good wine and good company.

The Italian American Lawyers of Orange County established its roots in the Orange County community in 1979 with Joseph D’Antony installed as our first President. Past Founding Members include Hon. James Di Cesare, Frank Barbaro, John DiCaro, Joseph DiVincenzo, Andrew Lachina, and Frank Terreri. Click here for additional history about Lex Romana.

The Italian American Lawyers of Orange County (Lex Romana) meets the second Tuesday of every month, rotating between various local Italian restaurants. We are well-known for our love of Italian culture, food, and wines and believe everyone is an Italian at heart. Like a scene from The Godfather, our dinners are an experience of multiple conversations sparking across the table, bursts of laughter, and wine glasses chiming. This defines our vision networking.

We are an approved MCLE provider. We present on a variety of topics, including speakers on topics relating to Italian culture and heritage. We believe MCLE credits are appropriately earned through presentations given over wine and pasta. Indeed, the only better way to earn MCLE is to do so through presentations given in Italy. The Italian Lawyers of Orange County has organized and arranged multiple CLE trips to Italy, including Sicily in 2012 and Tuscany in 2014. We will continue to provide opportunities to earn CLE in Italy with our next trip tentatively planned for June 2016. Click here for more information about CLE in Italy.

Membership in the Italian Lawyers of Orange County continues to grow. We welcome non-Italians and non-lawyers with open arms. There is no better way to break from the daily grind one evening a month to enjoy our festivities. Annual highlights include our annual Installation Dinner, Bocce at Il Fornaio, dinners at different Italian eateries, an annual joint meeting with the Celtic Bar, wine tasting, MCLE credits (at least four a year), cooking classes, and a special Christmas event.

ITALIAN AMERICAN ATTORNEYS OF ORANGE COUNTY
LEX ROMANA

The first ever IALOC meeting took place at Joseph D'Antony’s home at which his mother, Adelaide, prepared and served a grand, homemade Italian meal. Also in attendance was Frank Barbaro, John Di Caro, Hon. James DeCesare, Richard Pacelli, Frank Terreri, Joe DiVencenzo and several others. Over many courses of delectable Italian dishes and many bottles of Italian wine, the IALOC was born. At that meeting, the group chose the name “Lex Romana” meaning “Roman law.” The founding fathers of the IALOC knew they were destined to turn this fledgling idea into a reality so all Italian American lawyers in Orange County and their family and friends could share in their legal gastronomic endeavor.
